Ebony reigns as one-week observance turns into carnival The one-week observance of the passing of the famed musician, Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, popularly known as Ebony Reigns, turned out to be a carnival, as thousands of people from all walks of life thronged the St Martin De Porres School at Dansoman in Accra yesterday to mourn her. Cheers and smiles quenched the tears on the packed school compound where both human and vehicular traffic was so thick that the police had to close the road leading to the school at the Dansoman Roundabout. By 10.30 a.m. yesterday, the usually quiet neighbourhood began to soak in probably the heaviest traffic it had seen in years. The mourners outside the school compound were more than those inside, with some finding space on the school walls and trees. Family of dead soldier vow to avenge him - The late Corporal Vondee Atsu Francis's family have debunked claims that they seek to avenge their relatives - The family says the Iam McWillis is neither a member of the family, nor do they recognize him - The late airman died in a brutal accident along with Ebony Reigns and her friend, Franklina. Relatives of the late Corporal Vondee Atsu Francis, have stated that they do not intend to avenge the late airman, contrary to an article previously published on this platform. According to a close member of the family, a source by the name of Ian McWillis said to be a family member is in fact not a relative of the late soldier, neither do any of the late airman's family members recognize who he is. Corporal Vondee Atsu Francis died in a tragic accident on Thursday, February 8th, 2017, along with two others, Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng, and Franklina Maame Yaa Teboa Nkansah while they were on their way back to Accra from Sunyani.

Ebony’s one-week memorial service in pictures Ebony died at the age of 20 when her music career was soaring The St. Martin De Porres school was flooded with scores of people, family, friends, sympathisers and fans for the one-week memorial service of Dancehall act Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng aka Ebony Reigns. Several musicians, ministers and dignitaries were present to pay their respect and commiserate with the family. In any typical Ghanaian society, after the passing of a dear one, family and friends meet a week after the death mainly to make plans towards the organization of the funeral rites and also give opportunity for those who may not have been able to a pay courtesy call to the family, to do so.
