MEET ELIVAVA THE AFRO POP AFRO JAZZ SONGSTRESS

Tina Mensah, well known by her stage name Elivava The African Gold (Elivava), is an Afro
Pop Afro Jazz recording artist, singer, songwriter, performer and choreographer. She is a
native of New Baika in the Buem District of the Volta Region of Ghana.
After working as a background singer and choreographer with most of the top and
popular, local and international artistes, such as Ebo Taylor, Teddy Osei and the Osibisa
band, Rocky Dawuni, Ally Keita, Stevie Wonder, Kojo Antwi, Afro Moses, Samini, VIP and
Atongo, Elivava gathered extensive experience and went solo.
Elivava's debut solo performance was in June 2005 at Fête de la Musique, a music event
held at Alliance Française in Accra - Ghana.
Her style of music is a medley of Afro Pop Afro Rock, Afro Beat Afro Jazz and Soul with
an underlined easy listening World Music approach. She sings in English, French, and
several local languages including Ewe, Ga and Twi.
In her maiden album, "I Live 4Ever", Elivava wrote all but two of the songs on the album
which she co-wrote and arranged.
She is passionate about her singing and this is discernible in her voice as it rises and falls
with the moods she creates with the different songs and their diverse messages.
Elivava was influenced by the works of vocalist and performer Miriam Makeba, Tina
Turner, Angelique Kidjo, Evelyn King, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, and music legend Billie
Holiday, who she used as study piece whilst studying jazz skills and techniques.
